QD Sling Swivel – Quick Detach Swivel for AR-15, Rifle & Shotgun

A quick detach sling swivel is the piece that actually connects your sling to your gun. This QD swivel drops into any standard QD socket — the round, spring-loaded cup already built into many handguards, rails, end plates and buttstocks — and locks in place until you press the button to release it.

Does your gun already take a QD swivel?

Many rifles and shotguns ship with QD sockets from the factory, and a lot of owners never notice them. Before buying a mount, check the gun itself:

• Handguard: look along both sides and the underside for a round recessed cup roughly the diameter of a pencil eraser.
• Receiver end plate: the plate between the receiver and the buffer tube often carries a socket on one or both sides.
• Buttstock: collapsible stocks frequently have sockets moulded into each side near the toe.
• Rail sections: some Picatinny rail segments include an integral socket.

Why quick detach

A QD swivel lets you take the sling off the gun in about a second, without tools and without unthreading webbing. That matters more often than people expect: cleaning the rifle, putting it in a safe or a case, handing it to someone else, or stripping down to a bare gun for storage. It also lets you move a single sling between several firearms instead of buying one sling per gun.

The swivel rotates in the socket, so the sling can twist as you move without binding or putting a permanent twist into the webbing.

Frequently asked questions

Are QD sling swivels a standard size?
The push-button QD swivel pattern used on rifle and shotgun sockets is a common standard, which is why a swivel from one maker generally seats in another maker's socket. Confirm your socket is the standard push-button type rather than a proprietary fitting before ordering.

How many swivels do I need?
One per attachment point. A two-point sling uses two, a one-point uses one. If you plan to move the sling between guns, you may want a swivel left permanently in each gun.

Will this work on a shotgun?
Yes, if the shotgun has a QD socket or you add one. Many hunting and field shotguns use sling swivel studs instead, which need a different fitting — check your model on the fitment pages.

Can I leave the swivel in the gun?
Yes. Most people leave a swivel seated in each socket and detach at the sling end, which is faster than reseating the swivel every time.
