Why this sling on the Savage Axis
A hunting or precision rifle is carried for hours and shot once. What matters is that it rides still on the walk in, comes off cleanly, and never has a loose loop to snag when you go prone or into a rest.

Fitting it
- Clear the rifle. Unload and clear it following the firearm manufacturer’s instructions before fitting any accessories.
- Front: confirm a compatible connector and follow the sling and attachment manufacturer instructions.
- Rear: confirm the matching connector for your stock or rear attachment; do not assume a slot, stud and QD cup are interchangeable.
- Adjust wearing your kit. A setting dialled in without a vest comes up short once it is on.
- Check the transition. It should shoulder without pulling tight across your chest.
Choosing hardware for your configuration
The optional second front stud is relevant when a bipod and sling compete for the same attachment. Its preparation location is not an installed second base, and the guide should not be used to assume that every Axis has two front studs.
Record the stock generation and whether the rifle has been restocked. If you need another attachment, follow the stock maker’s installation requirements or use a qualified professional rather than extrapolating from a different Axis photograph.
